Tim Wichers was another Intern we welcomed through our doors from Nova College in the Netherlands in association with The University Of Wolverhampton. Working with us from September 2016 to the end of January 2017, Tim had the following to say about his placement;
“First of all, I want to say that I had a really good time at VOiD Apps. When I first came up I was quite nervous and didn’t really know what to expect. But when my first week started I felt more comfortable being in the office and just asking questions about anything, could be work or just talk about my life outside of work. There was always time for a bit of fun, which I really enjoyed”
Tim was able to work with the core team to help progress projects. Everything Tim worked on will further help his employment opportunities and life opportunities back in the Netherlands. Tim was already well versed in C# and PHP when he arrived at our office so he was able to be put straight to work without much additional training.
From the very beginning, Tim blended in well with the team and was able to be put to work on client projects straight away, Tim said;
“I started with a small introduction on what I should know before starting to work. I had various tasks, some of course more difficult than others”
Tim worked on a variety of projects including an upcoming project called Beef Monitor (more about this soon!). He also worked on updating features on an app for Donghua, another upcoming project, where he used PHP and C# working closely with our other intern. ‘Where’s My Market?’ was also another project Tim’s had an impact on. This had him creating a system, which worked around a problem with updating the WordPress theme that was used, with Tims help we were able to change the embedded titles that were not editable through theme options that after an update would revert causing miscommunication throughout the site. The plugin he created managed to edit the titles to exactly as they were before the updates, this saved us a lot of time and solved a massive problem. Tim had the following to say about the projects he worked on;
“Eventually, I learned a lot about all sorts of different systems and working methods. Mostly things you don’t see in class, but real life experiences. Also joining a real project with real deadlines was very exciting for me, and I think the work we did turned out rather well!”
Closing out Tim said the following;
“I’d Just like to say a big thanks to the guys for having me around and teaching me new things!”
We would like to wish Tim the best for his future and would welcome him back in a heartbeat. We can’t thank him enough for his time and would like to offer our congratulations, gratitude and best wishes for the future.
