As a newly formed Academy a lot of the goals for this project focused around Ofsted compliance. Policy documents that are easy to find, information about the Curriculum that is well presented and general up to date information was critical for the success of the project.
OLSC wanted a website that was easy to maintain for the staff at the Academy. We used a CMS (Content Management System) and comprehensive written instructions along with a training session on how to change pretty much every aspect of the website so even the most inexperienced user could help to achieve this goal.
By making sure the site was easy to maintain the life of the website is extended. With easy to use tools the information on the website stays up to date and fresh. A news and events section creates the ideal home for dynamic content and reduces the risk, a risk many older websites have fallen foul to, of new page creation for new content when its not needed.
The targets for this project were simple. The site needed to be easy to maintain, provide areas for dynamic content and make sure Ofsted are happy.
When creating websites for education we know how important Ofsted compliance is, especially for newly formed Academies. We know exactly what Ofsted expect, so we tailor design and structural decisions around these targets.
We also made sure that the OLSC website was accessible to the largest amount of users. We achieved this, like all of the websites we develop, by making sure it was mobile responsive. It’s never been more important to have a mobile friendly website.
