How Much for App Development - VOiD Applications
A common question we get at VOiD is about the cost of a mobile app. We’re always excited to hear from new and existing clients about their app development ideas. It’s great to hear about a client’s vision for an app that’ll help them meet their goal, with each new brief presenting its own unique challenges, approaches and concepts. Cost is one of the most important factors when deciding to fully realise (or not) your app idea. At VOiD, we tailor our process to your needs. We consider budget, time, and the features that you require, then develop a bespoke app based on your requirements. Of course, a more unique and complex function will have a higher price attached to it.

As app development specialists, we’ll be completely honest with you. We’ll give you our opinions and advice, as well as offer guidance in pursuing a project. The app development partnership is just that – a partnership where we help you get the best return on your investment, with no time wasted. We’ll strive to make your app stand out from the rest, and to fully realise your vision for the app. We’ll help you put an idea on the right track, and ensure that it’s heading in the right direction.

There are many different sides to creating an app. Development, server-side development, design, testing, launching and marketing all come together at the end to create a successful app. It’s a bit like a clock – it only works if all the cogs work together. If one cog is missing, then the whole thing will stop. If one of these cogs is missing, the app might fall at the first hurdle.

When you have an idea for an app, it’s important to consider what platform you want to develop for. Phones and tablets have their own challenges – similarly, iOS and Android have their individual challenges. They all change the way a user will interact with the app – different user interfaces (UI), different screen sizes and resolutions, and a different operating system to work within. The benefits to these platforms, however, far outweigh the negatives – with over 80% of internet users owning a smartphone, 99.1% of which are either Android or iOS based, your app will be accessible to the vast majority.

“There’s one extra thing that we absolutely won’t be beaten on – customer service.  It’s one of the reasons why, in 2016 to 2017, we had 100% positive feedback from each client we worked with – we create lasting, professional relationships that ensure clients get their money’s worth.”

Testing is done in-house, with our team of experienced staff. With larger app launches, we aim to get focus groups made of your target demographic to play a part in design. We also do soft launches, to make a smooth launch absolutely certain. After testing is complete, we help you launch the app by giving you advice on how best to hit your targets and goals. The app is built to be futureproof – developing an application that needs to be re-written multiple times just isn’t good practice. With that in mind, we tailor our packages to ensure this doesn’t happen.

Just how much, then, does an app cost? Our bespoke development allows a large degree of flexibility for your budget, giving you a wide array of features to choose from in an app that will fulfil your needs. We have a few price bands separated by a few factors, like how complicated the app’s functionality may be. These examples serve as a rough guide to what to expect:

  • Entry level applications and games cost between £5,000 and £15,000, including basic functionalities like product catalogues, staff-driven data collection, and content syncing from a server.
  • A medium to large application or game which incorporates elements of hardware, data analytics and game design will cost between £15,000 and £30,000. These apps usually include those that have large amounts of data being transferred. For example, a taxi rank app comparable to Uber (which is remarkably popular!) or an app that is linked to a bespoke piece of hardware.
  • £30,000+ for anything beyond this: a new social media platform, or an enterprise solution for a large company.

Like any project, there can be other factors that affect the cost, depending on the platforms you want to target and how integrated with third parties you want your app to be.

When you pay for the development of a mobile app or website, like any product, you’ll get what you pay for. We firmly stand on the line of value for money versus the best quality – we’ll strive to give you the best of both worlds. There’s one extra thing that we absolutely won’t be beaten on – customer service.  It’s one of the reasons why, in 2016 to 2017, we had 100% positive feedback from each client we worked with – we create lasting, professional relationships that ensure clients get their money’s worth.
